Iran carried out missile tests on Star of David target last year

Israel submits satellite images and complaint to UN Security Council; Israel’s Ambassador: The use of the Star of David as target practice is hateful and unacceptable

Iran conducted missile tests last year using a Star of David as a target.

Israel provided proof of the incident from satellite images of the missile test on the Star of David last year, the images showing a massive Star of David painted into the ground outside of a Revolutionary Guard Army base.

The missile test was a direct violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231.

Israel officially reported the incident to the Security Council Wednesday, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations submitting an official complaint.

In his complaint he stated that the “use of the Star of David as target practice is hateful and unacceptable. The missile launch is not only a direct violation of UNSCR 2231, but is also a clear evidence of Iran’s continued intention to harm the State of Israel…

He called on the council to recognize Iran and Hezbollah’s terrorism in the Middle East, stating “The targeting of a sacred symbol of Judaism is abhorrent. It is the Iranians who prop up the Assad regime as hundreds of thousands are killed, finance the terrorists of Hezbollah as they threaten the citizens of Israel, and support extremists and tyrants throughout the Middle East and around the world. I call on the Security Council to respond decisively to these Iranian violations and provocations.”

The IDF carried out airstrikes in Syria Wednesday night in retaliation for mortar fire into Israeli territory for the third time since Saturday.

Stray projectiles landed in the Golan Heights from fighting between Assad’s regime and rebel forces close to Israel’s border, the Israel Air Force carrying out airstrikes on Syrian Army targets in Samadania near Quneitra

No injuries or damages were reported from the projectiles.

On Sunday, the IDF retaliated to stray mortar fire from Syria into Israel. On Saturday, the IDF struck Syrian Army positions, Syrian media reporting that two were killed in Quneitra. The strikes reportedly hit a Syrian army tank, killing two soldiers. The strikes were carried out in response to numerous mortar shells landing in Israel.

Prime Minister Netanyahu responded to the second attack warning that, “Those who fire into our territory will encounter a swift response,” reiterating that the Golan Heights is Israel’s sovereign territory. He stated “We are always amazed that there is still someone who says we will return the Golan. The Golan is ours and the Golan will always be ours. The Golan is ours because it belonged to our forefathers, and because it was taken back by us due to Syrian aggression…”

In a new survey by the Pew Research Center, Israel, along with Russia, are the only countries globally that prefer United States President Donald Trump to former President Barack Obama.

The survey included 37 countries, with a reported 22% reporting confidence in President Trump’s to “do the right thing”, in comparison to President Obama at a median of 64%.

President Trump, however, scored high in approval in both Russia and Israel in comparison to Obama. Trump’s commitment to withdrawal from the nuclear agreement, as well as his travel ban were factors in Israelis favoring the President, with Hungary, Israel, Poland and Russia supporting the ban.

Israel frequently gives the United States and its presidents high scores, Pew claiming “Israelis give the U.S. some of its highest favorability ratings, and that’s true again this year, with 81% saying they have a positive view of the U.S. Assessments of American presidents…”

Israelis put Trump 7% higher in popularity than Obama in his last term, with 54% responding that Trump is a “well-qualified” president.

During Obama’s time in office in 2014-2015 (during the creation of the nuclear deal) Obama’s ratings dropped, PEW reporting “Obama’s confidence ratings varied from 49% to 71% in the Center’s polling in Israel during his administration. Between 2014 and 2015, his ratings dipped substantially, reflecting tensions between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Iran nuclear deal.”

The poll reported Trump’s rating as “higher than Obama’s during the final two years of his administration.”

UNESCO to vote on resolution claiming Tomb of Patriarchs is a Muslim holy site

UNESCO to hold vote in Poland in July; Israel continues lobbying efforts to block vote

UNESCO is set to vote on an additional resolution claiming Israel has no sovereignty over Jerusalem and that the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hevron is a Muslim holy site.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization will vote during the United Nation’s World Heritage Committee in Poland next week. According to UNESCO, the resolution aims to recognize the Cave of the Patriarchs as a Muslim site.

UNESCO has already declared the Temple Mount a Muslim site, as well as denied Israel’s sovereignty in Jerusalem.

Israel has been lobbying to create a coalition majority to vote against the resolution. 7 of the 21 member body votes are needed to block the latest anti-Israel resolution.

On Sunday, Israel denied a request by UNESCO to visit Hebron, Israel’s Ambassador to UNESCO, Carmel Shama-Hacohen, stating “As a matter of principle, Israel will not provide legitimization to any Palestinian political move under the guise of culture and heritage.”

In May, UNESCO passed a resolution denying Israel’s historic and legal sovereignty in Jerusalem on the same day as Israel’s Independence Day. The resolution claims Israel’s construction and excavations of holy sites in Jerusalem and Hebron as illegal, as well as criticizes Israel for closing border crossings into the Gaza Strip, as well as deploring “military confrontations in around and the Gaza Strip” with no mention of terrorism.

In June of 2016, UNESCO voted that the Temple Mount would be referred to as “Al-Aqsa” in all official documents and official reference. Just a few weeks later, UNESCO voted to return the holy site to the “historical status quo” before the 1967 war.

UNESCO will meet and vote in Krakow, Poland, July 2-12, 2017.

The IDF retaliated to stray mortar fire from Syria into Israeli territory Sunday afternoon, the second time the IDF has carried out strikes in Syria in the past two days.

Numerous mortar shells landed in the Golan Heights, spillover from Syria’s civil war into Israeli territory. No injuries or damages have been reported.

On Saturday, the IDF struck Syrian Army positions in Syria, Syrian media reporting that two were killed in Quneitra. The strikes reportedly hit a Syrian army tank, killing two soldiers. The strikes were carried out in response to numerous mortar shells landing in Israel.

On Sunday morning during his weekly cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed the IDF’s strike Saturday and warned Syria from further “drizzle” stating, “The IDF attacked Syrian army targets last night. It was a military response to the mortar fire [that exploded in our territory… With the IDF action today, we are making our policy clear again. We are not willing to accept any ‘drizzle’ of fire or ‘spillover’ on any front. We will react with force to any firing on our territory.”

Hezbollah has been using a fake NGO to disguise its terror activities on Israel’s border.

The terrorist organization has set up numerous observation points on the border with Israel, disguising itself at the “Green Without Borders”, a fake environmental organization. Hezbollah has reportedly been gathering intelligence on Israel, video footage released Thursday of militants filming and taking pictures of Israel from the observation points.

Israel has reported Hezbollah’s activities to the United Nations Security Council, the activities direct violations of two Security Council resolutions.

The IDF and Israel’s intelligence agencies are investigating the situation.

In April, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, submitted a letter to the Security Council with evidence of Hezbollah operating in the Blue Line (border with Israel). He stated that, “Hezbollah is working along the Blue Line under the guise of civilian activity, while violating UN Security Council resolutions 1701 and 1559.”
