The Israel Air Force retaliated with airstrikes after a rocket was fired into Israeli territory on Monday morning.

A rocket was fired into Israel from the Gaza Strip, landing in an open area with no damages or injuries reported. Sirens were heard in the Ashkelon region.

According to the IDF Spokesperson Unit, three Hamas positions were targeted in airstrikes carried out Monday just a few hours following the rocket attack. IDF tanks also fired at one of the targets.

The IDF Spokesperson Unit stated “In response to the projectile fired towards Israel earlier today, an IDF tank targeted a Hamas post in the northern Gaza Strip.”

Israel holds Hamas responsible for all attacks on the State of Israel from the Gaza Strip.

The terrorist organization has not taken responsibility for the attack nor addressed it.
